A plus-size yogini, Michelle emphasizes appreciation of one's self and abilities as they are in the present moment to begin living a more joyful, liberated life. To this end, her inclusive and empowering teaching approach incorporates modified techniques and props to make the practice of yoga accessible and fun for people of all body shapes, sizes and conditions, including expectant and new mothers.
Michelle's yogic journey began in 2008. Her career as a freelance writer and editor and workaholic tendency aided and abetted a sedentary lifestyle at the computer, packing on pounds and weighing on her mind and spirit. Immersing herself in work also served as an obsessive-compulsive coping mechanism for stress. Feeling increasingly like a lifeless jellyfish and striving for a healthier life balance, she tried yoga and was soon hooked.
Thanks to the gracious encouragement of her teachers, her passion for practicing yoga grew. Feeling greater balance in body, mind and spirit, she felt inspired to share the gift of yoga with others. A Yoga Alliance-registered yoga teacher at the 200-hour level (RYT 200), she completed her hatha yoga teacher training, which included prenatal yoga, in January 2011, through the Global Yoga and Wellness Center in Chicago under the direction of Rhonda Kantor.
