Self-Compassion: A Practice for Everyday Life
Self-compassion is the practice of meeting our own experience with the same kindness, understanding, and care that we so readily offer to others. Yet for many of us, it can be far easier to extend compassion outward than to turn it toward ourselves.
In this 90-minute workshop, we will explore what self-compassion really means, why it matters, and how it can become something we actively cultivate rather than something we wait to feel. Through discussion, mindfulness, meditation, and gentle contemplative practices, we will explore how to recognize patterns of self-criticism, relate differently to difficult moments, and develop a more supportive inner relationship.
Together, we will practice simple, accessible ways to bring self-compassion into everyday life, small practices that can be returned to in moments of stress, disappointment, uncertainty, or overwhelm. The intention is not to eliminate difficulty, but to learn how to meet ourselves more wisely and kindly within it.
And perhaps most importantly, self-compassion does not end with the self. As we strengthen our capacity to meet our own humanity with greater patience and understanding, we often become better able to extend that same compassion to the people and world around us.
No meditation experience is necessary. This workshop is open to anyone interested in cultivating a more compassionate relationship with themselves and others.
