Mindfulness + Meditation
Meditation and mindfulness sit at the heart of yoga, inviting us to move beyond posture and breath into direct, moment to moment awareness.
We see meditation not as something separate from yoga, but as one of its deepest expressions. Through mindful attention, we begin to slow down, listen inwardly, and come into a more intimate relationship with body, breath, mind, and heart. Over time, this practice can cultivate steadiness, clarity, compassion, and the capacity to meet life with greater presence.
Whether you arrive through stillness, sound, guided practice, breath awareness, or mindful movement, meditation offers a way to remember the deeper purpose of yoga. It is where practice becomes lived experience, and where the fullness of yoga begins to take root in everyday life.
Many of our classes weave in elements of mindfulness, meditation, breath-work, and rest. We also offer dedicated opportunities throughout the year for students who want to deepen this aspect of practice more intentionally.
Sliding scale and dāna
Meditation and MBSR-only offerings at Tula are offered on a sliding scale. This reflects the spirit of dāna, or generosity, a long held value in meditation traditions. Rather than treating these offerings as purely transactional, we aim to support a model of shared care in which those with more financial ease help make practice more accessible for others.
Our offerings
Mindfulness Meditation
(All experience levels welcome)
Mindfulness Meditation is a guided practice of learning to meet the present moment with steadiness, curiosity, and compassion. Through awareness of the breath, body, thoughts, emotions, and sounds, we practice noticing what is here without needing to fix, change, or judge our experience.
This practice will include guided meditation, periods of quiet, and occasional reflections on themes drawn from the mindfulness meditation tradition, such as presence, compassion, impermanence, non-judgment, and working skillfully with thoughts and emotions.
All are welcome, and no meditation experience is needed. Students are invited to come as they are, take a comfortable seat or resting shape, and participate in a way that feels supportive.
Please register through our class schedule.
Quiet Room
When available, students are always welcome to sit quietly in our Quiet Room, located just to the left of the front desk. You are welcome to drop in before or after class for personal meditation and reflection.
MBSR
We offer the full 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program at Tula. Developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, MBSR is a structured course in mindfulness, meditation, and gentle yoga that supports a more skillful relationship to stress, reactivity, and everyday life. Sessions are offered regularly throughout the year.
Other Meditation Offerings
Check our events page for additional opportunities to pause, reset, and deepen your meditation practice in community. These special offerings are held throughout the year.
A place to begin
You do not need prior experience in meditation to begin. You do not need to know how to quiet your mind. You only need a willingness to pause, pay attention, and begin where you are.
At Tula, we offer meditation and mindfulness as practices of returning to yourself, again and again, with patience, curiosity, and care.
