Shannen Sulpizio

Teaching Schedule: Desk Staff & Substitute Teacher.

Shannen has found immense freedom and empowerment in both the physical and spiritual teachings of yoga. She finds that her practice of tuning into the wisdom of the body provides both physical and mental growth and appreciation. Having found yoga during a time of isolation and disconnection, for her, the practice of yoga is a commitment to one’s self and a chance to honor the sacredness of the human spirit.

Originally from San Francisco, California, she moved to Chicago with her college roommates and has been happily a member of the Logan Square community for the past couple of years. Shannen has been working at the front desk at Tula since September and finds incredible amounts of joy in getting to know the students here. She recently completed her 200hr Yoga Teacher Training this February at The Lab where she got the opportunity to meet even more incredible yogis.

Shannen teaches dynamic flows for all levels of students, with both accessible modifications and options to explore new challenges. With an interest in human anatomy and celebrating body diversity, her approach meets students where they are at and to let go of self judgement. Her goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows for students to explore full range of motion without expectation. With an emphasis on mobility and mindfulness, she teaches with the intention that students can feel some relief from the daily stress. Her classes empower each student to honor how they feel in the present moment and move with open minded curiosity.

Connecting to the spiritual teachings also have provided mental clarity and relief during some of life’s hardest moments. She teaches with the hope that any student who may be going through hard times is able to find a sense of safety and ease in the practice. Shannen loves chatting with the community and getting to know others and their unique experiences and views on life. She loves discussing mental health and in her free time enjoyed print making and creating all sorts of art. She would love to get to know you and how you came to find yourself on the mat.
